Funders Rountable
The Funders Roundtable, a group of the region's private, public, and corporate foundations, and Tulsa Community Foundation have been discussing the potential of a community plan of action since 2003. The group determined that the best return on investment for the Tulsa philanthropic community, as well as Tulsa as a whole, is to find solutions to the core issues surrounding poverty. The process can be accomplished by:
  • Conducting a community needs assessment to identify community assets and social service/infrastructure gaps
  • Prioritizing issues based on available resources and best return on investment, then developing strategies to resolve the issues
A successful community is built upon three sectors: corporations, foundations / non-profits, and government. Although Tulsa has not traditionally relied on public / private partnerships to resolve its economic and social service needs, Tulsa's present economic position and outlook requires that all sectors work together, challenge one another, and integrate plans that move the city and region forward. This proposed planning effort is about bringing together the three sectors to collectively assess, identify, prioritize, fund and resolve Tulsa's critical issues.
